and my heart's been shot down like a bird in flight
Gyros left he left the country went to Russia for a vacation he said I'll be back we'll figure out just where we stand
And Lydia waited she waited waited to hear what her dear had to say
He comes back home she doesn't see him then on the telephone late at night she hears the news of his new life of his foreign wife and all the rest she never knew
And now she says: My moon has fallen I've lost my love I'm crashed to earth my womb has dried up oh how can I be living when my insides have died and my heart's been shot down like a bird in flight like a bird in flight like a bird in flight
My moon has fallen my moon has fallen it's fallen fallen fallen

At a table removed from the action of the room Lydia sat her hands wrapped around her brandy staring into space her heart beat in her eyes as a candle flickered and there in her countenance was something unknown that held her in check as she uttered the words
My moon has fallen I've lost my love I'm crashed to earth my womb has dried up how can I be living when my insides have died
