A portion of Las Sepulturas,
about a kilometer east of the Grand Plaza complex.
Architecturally, it is Lenca, another indigenous tribe, and part of the vast cosmopolitan
area of Copán.
Based on thousands of textile and pottery remnants found in the immediate area,
researchers consider this locale a community of assimilated craftspeople working for the
hierarchy of Copán,
although others hypothesize that Las Sepulturas was a residential area
outside the religious center of the main ruin complex.
